Happy Happy Hour

The name of Sunday's race makes me laugh every time I write it or say it out loud. So, for today's Happy Hour, have a "Heluva Good" day and start it off with a Three Olives Cherry Cheesecake Martini. You can follow along with today's Happy Hour here which starts at 1:30.

Cherry Cheesecake
2 Oz Cherry Vodka
1 Oz Vanilla Vodka
1 Oz Cranberry Juice

Shake with ice and strain in a martini glass. Cheers!

Sorry....we have been a little MIA!

Although we had time to put up our new banner this week, we realize the website has been a little scarce. I am in the process of moving and let me tell you...I am a recovering shopaholic and have lived in the same house for 5 years. I don't know where half of this stuff came from! Packing is NOT my friend. Meanwhile, Darlynn who has been very busy at work has spent all her off time helping me out. Thank god for best friends.

We are taking a day off of packing and moving and going to see the movie Julie & Julia. We will let you know how it is. While it has nothing to do with NASCAR or racing, I am very intrigued by this true story that all started because of a blog. This movie has combined two of my greatest loves, cooking and blogging!

Hopefully after this weekend, the writers block and moving cramps will be aside and we can get back into our normal routine. Hope everyone has a Heluva Good race weekend....yes I really went there.

The Bog at the Glen

It seems more and more tracks are getting Fan Zone style hospitality areas. Watkins Glen is opening The Bog this weekend. Interestingly enough, it is a really good deal! You get preferred parking, 6 beer tickets, unlimited Pepsi beverages throughout the day and much more.

Although the press release says tickets must be purchased before July 24th, you may find that tix are still available due to our fabulous economy. I pulled this from their website so if you are going to the track this weekend, check it out and let us know what you think.

Speaking of Watkins Glen, who is your fantasy pick this weekend?

Come and enjoy THE BOG in our new TRACKSIDE LOCATION during NASCAR weekend. Turn 11 is the last turn before the checkered flag and site of the infamous 2008 ten car pile-up. In the circuit's closest trackside fan hospitality area you're just yards from your favorite driver as they roar past Turn 11 all while you enjoy exclusive seating, preferred parking, interactive games and an all access fan hospitality experience featuring Cold Pit access, driver Q&A's and plenty of food and beverage!

Here's What's Included:
- Exclusive trackside viewing all day(s)
- Self-Guided pit tour access on Sunday morning August 9, before the race
- Multiple driver Question & Answer sessions
- Preferred parking near Gate 5 (Lot 5)
- Upgraded lunch and snack food experience
- Unlimited Pepsi Co. products and bottled water
- Six daily Budweiser product coupons**
- Free souvenir gift and ear plugs
- Closed circuit televisions (with direct race feed)
- "Wreck Room" with pool & foosball tables, darts, bocce ball, popcorn & peanuts
- Musical entertainment
- Semi-private air-conditioned restrooms
- NEW LOCATION inside Turn 11, along Midway and at Pedestrian Bridge***
- Sunday Only (NASCAR Sprint Cup Series) - $75
- Saturday & Sunday (NASCAR Sprint Cup & Nationwide Series) - $125

Pocono rescheduled

I am sure you all know by now that today's race was rescheduled due to rain and fog. Race coverage will start tomorrow at 12:00pm on ESPN with the green flag dropping at 12:15pm. It wasn't exactly rain that caused the race delay. It was weepers. That's a new one for me. I always thought weepers were people who cry too much. The term "Weeper" is an area where groundwater continually seeps through cracks in the surface of the asphalt of the track. Hmm...learn something new everyday! For those of you who are working tomorrow, make sure you follow online with the live leader board or Pit Command.

Johnson and other drivers to visit the White House

Found this on Jayski and thought I would share. President Barack Obama will welcome three-time defending Cup champion Jimmie Johnson to the White House on Monday (August 3rd). Obama, the 44th president, will also honor other former NASCAR champions and other drivers who qualified for the 2008 Chase for the championship. Johnson's #48 Lowe's Chevy also will be parked at the White House.

Jimmie was one of the vocal drivers during the 2008 presidential elections. There were multiple articles regarding Jimmie and McCain and you can read the one from USA Today here.
